Baldrige Funding Legislative Update

Thank you for all your help with our effort to restore the Baldrige Program in the Federal Budget. Here is a two-part update for you (Where  we are/What we need you to do):

Where we are:

  • We have confirmed member requests for funding Baldrige in the Senate Commerce, Justice, and Science (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee from Senator Gary Peters of Michigan and Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
  • We are currently meeting with Senators and their staffs to discuss the requests submitted and build additional support over the next two-weeks. All have expressed admiration for the Baldrige program but have been candid in that Subcommittee members must come forward and support the request with the Subcommittee Chair Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama.
  • We are working with our constituent footprint and other connections - urging them to support the $8 million request for FY2016 by writing members of the CJS Subcommittee and full Appropriations Committee.
  • The Appropriations Subcommittee schedule in the Senate has yet to be released, but the CJS Subcommittee is expected to mark-up the first or second week in June.

What we need you to do:

  • Please sign and send this letter or one that you develop to Senator Feinstein asking for her to support the funding of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. One organization sent a similar letter to all employees asking them to reach out which is now a best practice. The email address is joshua_esquivel@feinstein.senate.gov
  • Please blind copy or send a copy of your letter to info@baldrigefoundation.org

California needs Baldrige! America Needs Baldrige! So, thank you for your anticipated supported.
